West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board Conduct counseling for B.Pharm & D.Pharm Admission

The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB) will conduct a one-time, OMR-based Common Entrance Examination WBJEE for admission to undergraduate courses in Engineering, Technology, Pharmacy and Architecture for the academic session across various universities and institutes in West Bengal.

Eligibility Criteria:-

B.Pharm: To be eligible for admission to the B.Pharm (Bachelor of Pharmacy) course in West Bengal, candidates must be Indian citizens and at least 17 years old as of December 31 of the admission year. They should have passed the 10+2 (Higher Secondary) examination with Physics, Chemistry, and either Mathematics or Biology as core subjects, along with English in which they must secure at least 30% marks. Additionally, candidates must obtain a minimum of 45% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology taken together (40% for reserved categories such as SC, ST, OBC-A, OBC-B, and PwD). Admission is based on merit through the WBJEE (West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination), which is mandatory for entry into B.Pharm programs offered by various colleges and universities across the state.

D.Pharm: To be eligible for admission to the Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharm) course in West Bengal for the 2025–26 academic session, candidates must have passed the Higher Secondary (10+2) examination or its equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, and either Biology or Mathematics from a recognized board. Candidates must be at least 17 years old as of January 1, 2025, and the maximum age limit is 30 years, with a relaxation of up to 5 years for SC and ST candidates. Applicants must be residents of West Bengal for at least 10 years as of June 1, 2025, or their parents must be permanent residents of the state. Admission is based on a merit list prepared from the marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology or Mathematics, and candidates must have passed both theory and practical components separately in Physics and Chemistry. The application process is conducted online through the official website of the West Bengal State Council of Technical and Vocational Education and Skill Development (WBSCTE).

Registration Process:
a) Candidates are required to enter their personal details, including name, father's name, mother's name, date of birth, gender, type and number of identification, current and permanent addresses, mobile number, and email ID.
b) Particular attention must be paid while entering critical information such as name, parent's names, date of birth, gender, and domicile, as these details cannot be changed or modified under any circumstances once submitted.
c) After entering the required information, candidates must create a password, review the entered details carefully, and then submit the registration form.
d) Upon successful submission, a unique application number will be generated and displayed on the screen. An SMS and email containing this information will also be sent to the candidate's registered mobile number and email ID.
e) It is essential for candidates to remember their application number and password. If the password is forgotten, it can only be recovered using the “Forgot Password” option—there is no alternative method for password recovery.
f) Since no individual or agency can access or modify a candidate’s information without the password, it is strongly advised not to share the password with anyone. The Board will not be held responsible for any changes made due to password misuse.

At this stage, the candidate needs to fill in various other information such as domicile, category, PwD status, TFW status, income category, religion, nationality, academic details, etc. After that, the candidate needs to choose zones of examinations in order of his/her choice and submit the application.

Uploading Images:
a) Candidates must upload JPG/JPEG format images of their recent color photograph (file size between 10 to 200 KB) and signature (file size between 4 to 30 KB).
b) Both the photograph and signature must be uploaded together in a single step during the application process.

Confirmation Page: Upon completing all the above steps, the candidate shall be directed to download the ‘Confirmation Page,’ which means that the application is complete. APPLICATION IS NOT COMPLETE UNTIL THE CONFIRMATION PAGE IS GENERATED.

Correction of application form
a) It is impossible to correct any primary registration data, i.e., Name, Father’s Name, Mother’s name, domicile, and Date of birth.
b) If any candidate intends to correct any other information in his/her application, he/she can do so after logging in during the given correction period. The Board will not entertain any request for any correction under any circumstances beyond the correction period. Also, the Board will not make any corrections on behalf of any candidate.

Application Fees: The application fee for WBJEE 2025 must be paid through any of the following modes: Net Banking, Debit Card, Credit Card, UPI, or QR Code. No additional service charges will be levied by the authorized banks. The fee structure based on the category and gender of the candidate is as follows:

Candidate CategoryGenderApplication Fee (₹)
GeneralMale500
Female400
Third Gender300
SC / ST / OBC-A / OBC-B / EWS / PwD / TFWMale400

Papers and ranks: Candidates appearing in both paper-I and paper-II are eligible for a General Merit Rank (GMR) and a Pharmacy Merit Rank (PMR). Such candidates may be considered for admission in all courses of Engineering and Pharmacy. Candidates appearing only in paper II are eligible for PMR only. Such candidates may be considered for admission into Pharmacy courses only (except at Jadavpur University). Candidates appearing only in paper-I are not eligible for any rank.

The Pattern of Question Papers in WBJEE-2025: All questions will be Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQ), with four options against each question. There will be three categories of questions in each subject. The number of questions, as well as the maximum marks for each, are given in the following table:

SubjectCategory-1 Each Q carries 1 (One) mark (-ve marks = 1/4)Category-2 Each Q carries 2 (two) marks (-ve marks = 1/2)Category-3 Each Q carries 2 (two) marks (No -ve marks)Total Number of QuestionsTotal Marks
MathematicsNo. of Q: 50No. of Q: 15No. of Q: 1075100
PhysicsNo. of Q: 30No. of Q: 5No. of Q: 54050
ChemistryNo. of Q: 30No. of Q: 5No. of Q: 54050

Mode of Answering in the Examination: Candidates must answer questions on a specially designed Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) sheet, which will be evaluated using OMR technology. It is crucial to follow the proper marking method. Responses must be marked by completely darkening the appropriate circle/bubble using a blue or black ink ballpoint pen, which will be provided at the examination center. Use of any other method—such as partially filled bubbles, use of pencil, tick marks, cross marks, dot marks, circular marks, overwriting, erasing, scratching, white ink, or marking outside the bubble—is strictly prohibited and may lead to incorrect or ambiguous evaluation.

Important: WBJEEB shall not be held responsible for errors arising from incorrect marking, and such errors may result in cancellation of the OMR sheet. Response markings cannot be edited, erased, or modified once marked.

Scoring Methodology: Category-1 Questions

  • Only one option is correct.
  • Correct answer: +1 mark.
  • Incorrect answer: –0.25 marks (25% negative marking).
  • If more than one option is selected, even if one is correct, the answer is treated as incorrect and –0.25 marks will be deducted.
  • Unattempted questions carry zero marks.

Category-2 Questions

  • Only one option is correct.
  • Correct answer: +2 marks.
  • Incorrect answer: –0.5 marks (25% negative marking).
  • If more than one option is selected, even if one is correct, the answer is considered incorrect and –0.5 marks will be deducted.
  • Unattempted questions carry zero marks.

Category-3 Questions

  • One or more options may be correct.
  • Only if all correct options are selected and no incorrect options are marked, the candidate will receive +2 marks.
  • If any incorrect option is selected, the answer is considered wrong, and the candidate will receive zero marks, even if some correct options are selected.
  • Partial marks will be awarded if:
  • Some but not all correct options are selected.
  • No incorrect options are selected.
  • The marks will be calculated as: Marks = 2 × (Number of correct options marked ÷ Total number of correct options)
  • Unattempted questions will result in zero marks.

Pharmacy Merit Rank (PMR):
a) The Pharmacy Merit Rank (PMR) will be prepared solely based on the marks obtained in Paper II, which includes Physics and Chemistry.
b) Candidates will be ranked in descending order of their scores in Paper II. In the event of a tie, the tie-breaking rules outlined in section 2.9.2 will be applied.
c) Separate merit ranks will be indicated for reserved categories such as SC, ST, OBC-A, OBC-B, EWS, PwD, TFW, etc., wherever applicable.
d) Admission to all Pharmacy courses—except those offered by Jadavpur University—will be carried out based on the PMR.
e) The counseling, seat allotment, and admission processes will strictly follow the PMR sequence. Category ranks will be displayed on the rank card for informational purposes only and will not influence the order of seat allotment.

West Bengal University of Health Sciences Conduct counseling for Pharm. D and M. Pharm Admission

Admissions to the Pharm.D and M.Pharm courses offered by the West Bengal University of Health Sciences (WBUHS) will be conducted strictly on the basis of an inter-se merit list, which will be prepared separately for candidates belonging to different categories and castes as per the applicable guidelines.

Eligibility for admission: Indian citizens possessing any of the following qualifications shall be eligible to apply for the courses.

Pharm.D: Candidates to have passed the 10+2 examination with Physics and Chemistry as compulsory subjects, along with either Mathematics or Biology (with separate theory and practical, if applicable), securing at least 45% marks in aggregate (40% for SC, ST, OBC-A, OBC-B, and PWD candidates) in these three subjects, and a minimum of 30% marks in English. The qualifying examination board must be recognized by the Central or State Government. Alternatively, candidates who have completed a D.Pharm course from an institution approved by the Pharmacy Council of India are also eligible. Applicants must be at least 17 years of age as on 31st December 2025, with no upper age limit for appearing in the examination. Additionally, only candidates who are domiciles of West Bengal are eligible and must submit a domicile certificate in the prescribed format (Proforma A1, A2, or B) provided in this bulletin.

M.Pharm: Eligibility for admission to the M.Pharm program requires a pass in the B.Pharm degree examination from an Indian university established by law and from an institution approved by the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI), with a minimum aggregate of 55% marks over the four years of study. In addition, every student admitted to a postgraduate pharmacy program in any PCI-approved institution must be registered with the State Pharmacy Council, or obtain such registration within one month from the date of admission.

Filling up of forms: Candidates must fill in the prescribed application form provided at the end of this Information Booklet and attach photocopies of the required documents as specified. Each candidate is permitted to apply for only one course, depending on their qualifying degree. Applications must be accompanied by a demand draft of ₹3,000/- (Rupees Three Thousand only) for Pharm.D or ₹5,000/- (Rupees Five Thousand only) for M.Pharm, drawn in favour of “The West Bengal University of Health Sciences,” payable at Kolkata. The completed application form must be submitted to the Office of the Controller of Examinations (CoE), WBUHS, either in person or by post, no later than 4:00 PM on 11th November 2025. The demand draft, however, must be purchased on or before 11th November 2025. Candidates are advised to retain a photocopy of the duly filled application form, signed by the receiving authority at the CoE office, or the postal receipt as proof of submission, as this will be required during counselling.

Admission Test

  • The written admission test will be conducted at the University premises or at another designated center as mentioned in the admit card. Candidates must report to the examination hall at least 30 minutes before the commencement of the test. No candidate will be allowed to enter once the examination begins.
  • The duration of the test will be 1 hour 20 minutes, during which no candidate will be permitted to leave the hall, even if they complete the paper early. Candidates may exit only after all OMR sheets have been collected and verified against the attendance sheet.
  • Candidates must carry a valid photo ID (Passport / Aadhaar Card / Voter ID / Driving License) and produce it to the invigilator along with the admit card.
  • Only the admit card and valid photo ID are allowed inside the examination hall. The University will provide the OMR sheet, question paper, and ballpoint pen.
  • Candidates must carefully fill in their roll number, series, and question booklet serial number on the OMR sheet and darken the corresponding circles. They must also write their name, the name of the test, examination center, and provide a full signature on the OMR sheet. As OMR sheets will not be replaced under any circumstances, candidates must handle them carefully to avoid damage, ink blotting, or smudging that could affect scanning.
  • The test will consist of single best response type MCQs in English. Each correct answer will carry 1 mark, while 0.25 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer. Multiple responses to a single question will be treated as incorrect. No marks will be deducted for unanswered questions.
  • The question paper will contain 100 MCQs. For Pharm.D the questions will be based on the Class XII syllabus in Physics and Chemistry. For M.Pharm the questions will be based on the B.Pharm syllabus, covering all relevant subjects.
  • Candidates must ensure that the circles corresponding to their chosen answers on the OMR sheet are completely blackened. Partial, smudged, or multiple markings will be treated as incorrect, and once marked, answers cannot be changed.

Admit Cards: Admit cards will be sent to each candidate at the email address provided in their application. The University will not entertain any request regarding non-receipt of admit cards. The admit card will contain details of the examination, including the date, time, venue, and important instructions for the conduct of the admission test.

Merit List: The merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained in the admission test. In case of a tie, the candidate with fewer incorrect responses will be ranked higher. If the tie still remains unresolved, the candidate older in age (earlier date of birth) will be given the higher position in the merit list.

Admission: The provisional merit list, along with the schedule (date and time) of counseling, will be published on the University website. Admission offer letters will be issued during counseling, subject to successful verification of original documents. Candidates attending counseling must report to the University premises with the following documents in original, along with self-attested copies:
(i) Admit card of the admission test
(ii) Rank letter of the admission test
(iii) Class X admit card or pass certificate as proof of age
