KCT College of Pharmacy was established in the year 1992 under Hazrath Shaikh Minhajuddin Ansari Kallerawan Charitable Trust. The College is affiliated with Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka, Bangaluru, and approved by AICTE (All India Council of Technical Education) and PCI (Pharmacy Council of India). The college has an independent magnanimous building with modern infrastructure. All the laboratories are amazing and constructed beyond the norms of AICTE. All the classrooms are well ventilated, spacious, and furnished.

Seat Distribution for Pharmacy Colleges in Karnataka 

Seat distribution for Pharmacy courses in Karnataka affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) ( https://www.rguhs.ac.in/ ) and  PCI (Pharmacy Council of India) (https://www.pci.nic.in/) and AICTE (All India Council of Technical Education) (https://www.aicte-india.org/), New Delhi 

B. Pharm – Bachelor in Pharmacy (4 years – 8 semesters)

Eligibility: 

  • For the first-year B.Pharm course, the candidate must have passed 10+2 or PUC or equivalent examination from a recognized board or university with a cut-off percentage of 50% in PCB (Physics, Chemistry & Biology) or PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) as optional subjects individually.
  • Lateral entry to the third semester (3 Years – 6 semesters) needs a person to have completed a D.Pharm course from an institution approved by PCI & AICTE.

The medium of instruction and examination shall be in English. 

KEA (Karnataka Examinations Authority) will be doing Counseling for 100% of seats for Government, Government aided Central Universities and National Institutes, and 30% seats for private colleges. 70% of State management Quota Seats Will Be filled directly by the private college. The admission procedure is divided into two categories, i.e., the Government seat and the Management seat. 

B. Pharm – Bachelor in Pharmacy

D. Pharm – Diploma in Pharmacy (2 Years) 

Eligibility: 

  • For Diploma in Pharmacy, the student should have passed 10+2 or Intermediate exam with Science as a subject
  • First-year of Three year Degree course in Science
  • Predegree examination
  • Any other qualification approved by the PCI.

The medium of instruction shall be in English. The examination is conducted by the Board of Examination Authority of the state. It is a basic level Certificate program where a Diploma Certification is awarded.

The admission procedure is divided into two categories, i.e., the Government seat and the Management seat. 

D. Pharm – Diploma in Pharmacy

M. Pharm – Master of Pharmacy (2 years – 4 semesters)

Eligibility:

  • The candidate should have passed B. Pharm degree examination from RGUHS or any other PCI recognized University with 50% (45% in case of SC/ST/ OBC candidates) aggregate marks.
  • Selected candidates for admission to postgraduate pharmacy programs in any PCI approved institutions should have obtained registration with the State Pharmacy Council or should obtain the same within one month from the date of his/her admission
  • It is mandatory to submit a migration certificate obtained from the respective University where the candidate had passed his/her qualifying degree (B.Pharm)

The candidate gets a chance to select the specializations like: 

Pharmaceutical Analysis & Quality Assurance, Pharmacology, Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Technology, Pharmacognosy, Industrial Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Clinical Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical Technology, and Biopharmaceutics, Drug Regulatory Affairs, Bulk Drugs, Medicinal Natural Products, Pharmaceutical Administration, Medicinal Chemistry, Drug Discovery and Development, Pharmaceutical Marketing Management, Phytopharmaceuticals, and Natural products, Pharmacognosy and Phytochemistry as per the availability in the applying college.

Pharm- D – Doctor of Pharmacy (6 years – 5 years of study & 1 Year of Internship or Residency)

The Doctor of Pharmacy, also known as Pharm D, is a Professional Pharmacy doctoral program that is a requisite for candidates who want to practice pharmacy. In India, it was introduced in the year 2008 and it is a 6 years program after 10+2 or D. Pharm. It is slightly different from M.Pharm. Some unique features of Pharm D include- eligibility to register for a Ph.D., the prefix ‘Dr.’ to name, and a registrable qualification after completion of the course. Pharm D mostly includes a patient-centered curriculum and hence, patients will be benefited the most. The patients would be able to know all the information about their disease, drugs, and lifestyle modifications for the disease in the future which would definitely increase the prognosis of the patients. The clinical pharmacy services would also minimize the workload of physicians from their busy schedules as well as it would decrease the load on the Indian healthcare system.

Eligibility for Pharm D:

- Candidates who have passed 10+2 from recognized board or P.U.C.  examination of Karnataka with English as one of the subjects and Physics, Chemistry as compulsory subjects along with one of the following subjects-Mathematics or Biology or P.C.M.B.

- Candidates who have passed D.Pharm from PCI approved institutions

- Any other qualification approved by the Pharmacy Council of India is equivalent to any of the above examinations.

Eligibility for Pharm.D Post Baccalaureate course:

  • Pass in B Pharm degree examination of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences or B Pharm examination of any other Indian University established by law in India or any other degree courses in Pharmacy recognized as equivalent to B Pharm by RGUHS and Pharmacy Council of India
