The Institute of Pharmacy, Jalpaiguri, is situated in the district of Jalpaiguri in West Bengal.  It is situated in the District Hospital Campus in Jalpaiguri Town. It used to be known as Jackson's Medical College. It was created by the then British Government as an auxiliary medical institution to grant medical degrees in 1923. It is the first diploma pharmacy college in India, as it has been granting diploma degrees in Pharmacy since 1920. The school was upgraded to a B.Pharm degree-granting institution in 2003. Bachelor of Pharmacy ( B. Pharma):

WBJEEB:-The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination-2021 (WBJEE-2021)

For the academic session, the Board is going to conduct the Common Entrance Examination for admission to Undergraduate Courses in Engineering & Technology, Pharmacy and Architecture Courses of different Universities, Government Colleges as well as Self Financing Engineering & Technological Institutes in the State of West Bengal.

The mode of Examination

The examination will be in offline mode (OMR basedexamination).

Subjects of Examination

Candidates are required to appear for two papersin WBJEE-2021.

  1. Paper-I – Mathematics
  2. Paper-II - Physics& Chemistry (combined).

Age Restriction: The lower age limit is 17 (seventeen) years as on 31.12.2021. A candidate should have been born on or before 31/12 .There is no upper age limit in appearing in the examination.

Eligibility Criteria:-

  • Candidate must have passed ‘10+2’ examination with Physics,Chemistry, Mathematics / Biology as compulsory subjectswith individual pass marks (in both theory and practical wherever applicable)in all the three subjects as stated above in regular class mode.
  • Must have obtainedat least 45% marks (40% in case of candidates belonging to reserved category e.g., SC, ST, OBC-A, OBC-B, PwD) in the above three subjects taken together.
  • Must have passed English in the ‘10+2’ examination with at least 30% marks.
  • The Board of the said Qualifying Examination must be recognized by the Central Government or State Government concerned. However, as per the rules of the concernedRegulatory Body, the students possessing10+2 qualification from non-formal and non-classrooms-based schooling such as National Institute of Open Schooling, open school systems of States etc. shall not be eligible for admission to B. Pharm. Course.

Bachelor of Pharmacy ( B. Pharma) (lateral entry):-

JELET  :- Theexamination:, the Board will conductcommon entrance examination titled JELET for admission into 2nd year (3rd semester) of four-year BachelorDegree courses in Engineering/ Technology/ Pharmacy (except Architecture) in Universities, Government Colleges as well as Self Financing Engineering & Technological Institutes in the Stateof West Bengal.

Diploma holders in Pharmacy seeking admission into Degree Course in Pharmacy:-

i.  The candidate must pass Diploma in Pharmacy from an institution approved by the Pharmacy Council of India under section 12 of the Pharmacy Act.

ii. The candidate must secure at least 45% (40% for SC/ ST/ OBC-A/ OBC-B/ PwD) marks or equivalent CGPA.

iii.   Such candidates will also be eligible for admission to the 1st year Degree Course subject to vacancies in the 1st year classes in case the vacancies as lateral entry at second year are exhausted. However, the admission shall be based strictly on the eligibility criteria as mentioned above.

Pattern of Question Papers.

The paper will contain one hundred (100) MCQ ( Multiple Choice Question) type questions, with four answer options each. Each question carries 1-mark, full mark of the paper is 100, and the duration of the test is 2 hours. The questions will be in the English language only.

M.Pharmacy (Master of Pharmacy)

Candidates should secure 60% in B.Pharm from a recognized University. They should qualify GPAT or PGET conducted by MAKAUT, WB (Formerly WBUT)

Eligibility:

  • The candidates who have passed the B.Pharm Degree examination from any of the Universities in Kerala or from any other Universities recognised by the Kerala University of Health Sciences, Thrissur as equivalent thereto from an institution recognized by the All India Council of Technical Education, New Delhi and Pharmacy Council of India, with a minimum of 55% marks for all the Three years of B.Pharm Examination (B.Pharm II, III, IV year) taken together, will be eligible for admission. For service candidates seeking admission against the reserved quota, the minimum marks required shall also be 55%. Candidates who have passed their B.Pharm course from Universities outside Kerala will be eligible for admission only if their qualifying examination is recognized by the Kerala University of Health Sciences before the last date specified for submission of academic data. For candidates having not less than 5 years professional experience, after passing B.Pharm course, there shall be relaxation in pass percentage from 55% to 50% for admission to M.Pharm Course.
  • For candidates belonging to SC/ST communities a minimum of 50% marks for all the Three years of B.Pharm Examination (B.Pharm II, III, IV year) taken together, will be eligible for admission.
  • Every student, selected for admission to postgraduate pharmacy course in any of the pharmacy institution in the country should have obtained registration with the State Pharmacy Council or should obtain the same within one month from the date of his admission, failing which the admission of the candidates shall be cancelled.
  • Age There is no upper age limit for General Quota candidates.
