Faculty of Pharmacy, Jamia Hamdard was established in the year 1975. Hamdard College of Pharmacy with diploma course was established in 1972 which was affiliated to Delhi Board of Technical Education. The college is approved by All India Council for Technical Education(AICTE) and Pharmacy council of India (PCI). The department offers undergraduate (D. Pharm., and B. Pharm.), postgraduate (M.Pharm) and doctoral (Pharmacology, Pharmacology with specialization in Pharmacy Practice and Pharmaceutical Medicine) programmes. The Pharmacy Practice programme is run in collaboration with Hakeem Abdul Hameed Centenary Hospital, Jamia Hamdard. Research activities within the Department of Pharmacology are well-funded by various agencies such as DST, ICMR, UGC, AICTE, CCRUM etc.

(a) passed B. Pharm./ B. Pharm (Unani) examination from Jamia Hamdard or any other examination recognized by Jamia Hamdard as equivalent thereto, securing at least 55% marks in the aggregate of theory papers of B. Pharm/B. Pharm (Unani) or any other equivalent examination. |
(b) qualified GATE. Non GATE candidates may be eligible for admission to NRI/Industry sponsores category if GATE Qualified candidates are not available . |
Selection procedure |
The applicants for admission to the M. Pharm programme shall have to appear in the written entrance test . The test paper will comprise of questions based on B. Pharm. syllabus of Jamia Hamdard . The selection will be made on the basis of the merit prepared by apportioning the following weightage |
(a) Weightage of percentile scored at GATE - 70% |
(b) Weightage for qualifying examination based on aggregate marks of theory papers of B. Pharm. /B. Pharm(Unani) - 30% |

A candidate seeking admission to B. Pharm. programme must have: |
(a) passed Senior Secondary (12th Standard/Intermediate) examination with Physics, Chemistry and Biology from Central Board of Secondary Education or any other examination recognized by Jamia Hamdard as equivalent thereto. |
(b) appeared in the AIEEE conducted by CBSE to be held on May 9, 2004 in Physics, Chemistry and Biology papers. |
(c) appeared in the Central Counseling of CBSE for open seats. No central counseling is required for seats reserved for Muslims. |
Selection procedure |
For open seats, the admission will be made on the basis of the score of the candidates in AIEEE and Centralized Counseling of the CBSE. For seats reserved for Muslims, admission will be made on the basis of the merit prepared by Jamia Hamdard on the basis of the marks obtained by the applicants in AIEEE. Muslim candidates desirous of admission under reserved seats will also have to apply to Jamia Hamdard on the prescribed form. When the AIEEE result is declared, these candidates will have to submit attested copy of their score card to Jamia Hamdard. They should clearly write the admission application form no./roll no. of Jamia Hamdard on the back of the score card. Those who have used downloaded form should write the roll no. issued by Jamia Hamdard on the back of the score card. For open seats there is no need to apply to Jamia Hamdard. Admission for these seats will be done through Centralized Counseling of CBSE. |

Medium of instructions of Unani Pharmacy courses is Urdu. The candidates must have knowledge of Urdu language comparable to secondary (10th) standard and aptitude for Unani system of medicine. The aim and objective of this unique course are to produce Pharmacy Graduates with additional qualification in producing quality formulations of Unani medicines prescribed by Hakeems and validation and standardization of formulations using modern scientific techniques. |

DOCTORAL (PH. D.) PROGRAMME IN PHARMACY |

Pharm. from Jamia Hamdard or from any other institution recognized by AICTE and Jamia Hamdard in the relevant subject securing at least 55% marks in the aggregate. Selection procedure Admission to Ph. D. programme is made on the basis of the performance of the candidates in a written Entrance Test followed by viva voce of the short-listed candidates. The questions of the test paper are based on the M. Pharm. syllabus of the relevant discipline. Ph.D. Programme in Pharmaceutical Medicine Seats : 4 (one seat is reserved for Industry sponsored candidate) Eligibility Candidates should have passed M. Pharm. from Jamia Hamdard or from any other institution recognized by AICTE and Jamia Hamdard in Pharmacology/Hospital Pharmacy/Clinical Pharmacy/Pharmaceutics or M.B.B.S. degree from a recognized institution. Preference will be given to M.D./D.N.B. degree holders in Pharmacology/Medicine/Clinical Pharmacology). Candidates with M.Sc. degree in Pharmacology may also be considered. The required percentage is 55% in aggregate in the relevant subject. Selection procedure Admission to Ph. D. in Pharmaceutical Medicine programme is made on the basis of the performance of the candidates in a written Entrance Test and/or viva voce of the short-listed candidates. |
